Pittsburg State University, Polymer Research Center

EMC successfully completed the HVAC scope on this new 2-story educational research facility in Pittsburg, Kansas in 2007.

Named the Tyler Research Center in honor of Robert and Gwendolyn Tyler who provided a significant gift to PSU towards the construction of the center, the facility is part of PSU’s College of Technology and is primarily engaged in helping clients solve development and production problems in the field of polymers and plastics.

The 22,000-square-foot facility features 18 labs and 22 fume hoods with associated Phoenix valves and controls. Environmental Mechanical’s scope also included chiller, VAV, RTU’s, boilers and associated ductwork and piping.

The building houses 20 laboratories.  Much of the interior has stained concrete floors, marble tiles, andexposed structure ceilings.

Crossland Construction was the general contractor for the project and Answer Inc. of St. Louis was the architect.
