Whitside Barracks, Fort Riley

  • On this 590,000 square foot design/build project, EMC developed concept and cost for the HVAC system and then contracted the services of an engineering firm to take that concept and work with the architect to develop the overall project.
  • Project consisted of 5 separate barracks buildings with 160 beds in each building, to provide additional housing for returning troops from Iraq. It was new construction, with energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
  • EMC helped prepare the RFP by creating the mechanical narrative, we helped establish the LEED points and put together a GMP price budget.  We attended design meetings with the engineers, creating a final design that met their budget.
  • Designed within standards set by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and all engineering practices required to obtain the LEED points.
  • The project was built with a detailed CPM schedule with milestone completion dates for each building. All 5 buildings were completed and turned over to the Army on time.
  • General Contractor:  Walton Construction
  • Engineer: Hoss & Brown Engineers
